Site with an exceptional panorama on the bay of Katapola.

The site is not open to the public as excavations are still ongoing. Nevertheless, we advise you to climb up here for the exceptional panorama of the Katapola bay. You will also see some of the remains of one of the largest centres of civilisation of the Minoan period. King Minos of Crete established his summer residence here. Excavations have shown that the site was populated without interruption from the 10th BC to the 4th century AD. The outer fortifications of the ancient acropolis can still be seen today.
