This small, charmless port (Παλιό Λιμάνι Σαντορίνης/Palio Limani Santorinis) is used mainly by cruise ships. These can't dock here: they anchor offshore and shuttles disembark certain passengers. Also known as Skala, the port has tavernas and agencies for sea excursions. And it's from here that the cable car leaves, as well as the strenuous path to Thira, along which tired donkeys carry tourists and luggage. Other cruisers disembark at the port of Athinios, where buses await them.
