ZAGORA

A cultural hike: continuing south, 12 km from Batsi. It is necessary to continue on foot from the village of Stavropeda. Allow 45 minutes of walking before reaching the peninsula of Zagora which overhangs the sea at 160 m high. This ancient city was inhabited between the 10th and 8th centuries BC. While most of the objects found here are on display at the Archaeological Museum of Chora, you can still see the foundations of the fortification walls and the ruins of a temple probably dedicated to the goddess Athena (6th century BC).
