Lion of Tsia carved in the rock to scare away the nymphs according to the legend.
Sculpted on the cliff (6 m long and 3 m high all the same), the Lion of Tsia has been smiling at visitors since the 6th century BC. According to one version of the legend (but there are others...), the inhabitants of the village abandoned Ioulis, because the nymphs who lived in the mountain killed their wives. A priest then implored the help of Zeus, who sent a lion to chase away the cruel creatures. The inhabitants then decided to carve a reproduction of the animal in the rock so that the nymphs, frightened, would never return.
