CULTURAL INSTITUTE

This centre will introduce you to the history of the city and its famous cotton cooperative, which is the pride of its inhabitants. On the ground floor we learn how, in 1778, a certain Schwartz was at the origin of a cooperative between 17 cities, such as Hamburg and Constantinople, for the cotton trade. The museum is housed in an 1830 house, which became the textile house in 1901 and the culture house in 1995. It houses period agricultural implements on the first floor, lithographs and books written in French.
