THEOTOKOS CHURCH OF KALAMBAKA

The Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God (Ιερός Ναός Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου/Ieros Naos Kimiseos tis Theotokou) stands at the foot of the Meteora's most imposing rock column. Built from the 11th century onwards, it houses superb frescoes from the ^12th to ^17th centuries. The narthex features Christ's miracles and the Last Judgment from the ^13th and ^14th centuries. From the church, the M6 trail leads to the Agia Triada monastery in Meteora (approx. 40 minutes).
