ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM

Since 1970, the Archaeological Museum has been located in the Bezesten, a former Ottoman covered market. You will be able to see pieces found on all the sites in the area of Serres, in particular Neolithic objects from the Promahon site as well as archaic and classical pieces, the most important of which come from excavations carried out on the sites of the ancient Tragilos and Visaltia. One will also and especially notice the tombs of Macedonian type coming from the ancient Amphipolis. Other finds, from Roman times, come from the old Greenhouses.
