Cultural festivals, in memory of the liberation of the city on 26 June 1913, give rise to three days of celebrations.
Cultural festivities are organized for five days every year at the end of June in the municipality as part of the celebrations of the liberation of Kavala from the Bulgarian occupying forces during the Balkan Wars on 26 June 1913. These events culminate with the festivities in honour of the city's patron saint, the Apostle Paul, in the outdoor areas of the fortress, in Eleftherias Square, the "Freedom Square".
