BYZANTINE CHURCHES

About thirty Byzantine churches in Veria, but not all of them are open to the public. Palaia Mitropoli, for example, is the former central church dedicated to the apostle Paul and was transformed into a mosque during the Ottoman period. To visit some of them, you have to go to the Aghios Christos church, not far from Elias Street, to find out if guides are available to visit the few churches whose wonders are visible, including Aghios Christos, Aghios Kerykos and Aghios Ioannis Theologos.
