The site of Heraion is located in a tiny cove, overlooked by a lighthouse.
Continuing along the road that leads to the lake of Vouliagmenis, until the end of the cape, we arrive at the site of Heraion, nestled in a tiny cove, overlooked by a lighthouse. The sanctuary was dedicated to Hera Akraia (protector of the "ends" of the coastline) Limenia (protector of the port). The temple that we visit today, of Doric order, was built in the 6th century B.C., a little west of an older temple, destroyed, and which dated from the geometric period (around 800 B.C.). Very nice site to take a dip or to admire the sunset!

Superbe
