SAINT-PIERRE-SAINT-PAUL CATHEDRAL

Symbol of the wealth of the region, the cathedral was built between 1866 and 1882, under the orders of the patron Strossmayer. 7 million bricks were needed! The bishop wanted a large, comfortable church while maintaining the neo-Gothic tradition, with a monumental organ. The frescoes were done by brilliant students who, having received a state grant, worked on them for a good dozen years. Superb visit.
