At the foot of the hills, this main square, which has existed since the 17th century, was the venue for the fairs of the towns of Gradec and Kaptol. Renamed after the Second World War by the communists, who preferred "Place de la République", it regained its former name in 1991, and the equestrian statue of the ban Jelačić. Today, with its bus and tram stops, its café terraces and numerous events all year round, it is truly the heart, the nerve centre of the city, especially on Saturday mornings! You won't miss it.
