This chartreuse under high surveillance is still the subject of archaeological research.
At first, a few walls, a tower and a calvary. It is only when we continue the visit that we understand the extent of the place, getting lost in a maze of old rooms and cellars of which there is almost nothing left. A few panels and models help us to imagine the monastery of yesteryear and the life that prevailed there. The Association of the Friends of the Charterhouse has helped save the place from disaster. The Charterhouse is under close surveillance and is still the subject of archaeological research.

Lost in wood, the ruins of the Charterhouse Port-Sainte-Marie are worth a visit, remains of a time when the monks work out all their influence over the valley of the Chartreuse. The setting is very bucolic on the waterfront, very refreshing in summer!
