The highest lake of Auvergne in almost oval shape, not very deep, ideal to make a beautiful walk while making the turn.

Its origin comes from a glacial overburden and a late lava flow which came to block the valley. This obstacle was raised a few meters to be able to develop a water level. We are at 1 244 m of altitude, it is the highest lake of Auvergne. It is almost perfectly oval in shape, not very deep. In winter and summer, a nice walk allows you to go around it easily. The waterfall is worth the detour: the water falling from a dozen meters high offers a real spectacle. The yellow butterfly trail will lead you there.

Cadre très agréable, les pieds dans l'eau à profiter du grand air au calme, pique-nique. Balade autour du lac, randonnées et possibilité de goûter aux framboises sauvages. Magnifique vue sur les roches Tuilière et Sanadoire.

Un très beau site avec en fond la vue sur le massif du Sancy; il est possible de faire le tour du lac mais une partie du chemin est en bordure de route, et d'autres portions sont d'une difficulté relative.
La vue est très belle sur le lac et le massif en se baladant sur les hauteurs.
