NATIONAL MUSEUM OF PAINTING AND SCULPTURE

This very chic building provides an introduction to Turkish artists from the late 19th century to the present day. One enters its historic white and gold hall before wandering through the studios and galleries. The large collection of contemporary art positions it as a cornerstone of art and culture in the Turkish capital. Architect Arif Hikmet Koyunoğlu, in 1927, on Atatürk's orders, was responsible for the building, which did not take on its museum functions until 1980.
