Owned to the north by the rich and famous cultured pearl producer Robert Wan, who has established two of his three farms in the Gambier, and to the south by Marie-Noëlle and Bernard, a charming couple living off the sale of his lemons, Aukena is finally an island with very little access. The last thing you need is the proximity of the airport motu! If you're lucky enough to get there, don't miss the chance to discover one of the remains of the missionary era: Saint-Raphaël Church, the first stone Catholic church in the entire Pacific, dating from 1839. Like the watchtower in the southwest of the island, it is no longer in use since Aukena has been deserted. The island also has some beautiful white sand beaches.
