Arch of Triomf of 30 m high with allegorical friezes carved in the stone

The monumental perspective offered by the Arc de Triomf, the Passeig Lluís Companys and the Ciutadella Park was the setting chosen to host the 1888 Universal Exposition. The Arch was the symbolic gateway. Its author, Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas, was inspired by Mudejar art for its construction. The arch is 30 meters high and made of red brick. It is richly decorated with allegorical friezes carved in stone, representing agriculture, industry and commerce, arts and sciences.

A côté du parc de la Ciutadella, un modeste arc de triomphe eu milieu d'une place. Sympa lorsque l'on fait une ballade en ville pour accéder notamment au quartier gothique. Photos sympas en perspective. Bien avec des enfants.

Construit en brique rouge il représente l'art Medujar déjà présent à Barcelone à l'hopital Santa pau et aussi sur les bureaux de la général d'électricité batiment proche de l'arc de triomf en opposé au parc
