Recently restored ruins featuring a temple dedicated to Amon-Re with color-enhanced bas-reliefs still visible.
The temple, whose name means "stone monastery" in Arabic, was built by Emperor Nero, not far from the Mousawaqa necropolis. The recently restored ruins present a beautifully crafted ensemble, comprising a portico containing two columns, opening onto a square hypostyle hall supported by 4 round columns, providing access to the offering room preceding the sanctuary, bordered by two small rooms. Some fifteen meters deep, the temple dedicated to Amon-Ré features bas-reliefs enhanced with colors that are still visible.
