KAMEL MOUSTAFA GRAVES

Of all the tombs in Alexandria, this one is the most spared from humidity. It was dug during the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC east of the city, in a limestone massif. Four Greek tombs form this necropolis. The most beautiful of them, tomb no. 1 is still in good condition. In the centre of it, an altar has been erected, facing three doors surmounted by lintels, one of which is decorated with a polychrome frieze; pedestals support sphinxes that guard the access to a transverse vestibule that serves different burial chambers.
