SAINT BRIGITTE'S CONVENT
Ruins of a convent built in 1407, then the largest in former Livonia.
The ruins of the Sainte-Brigitte convent date back to the 15th century. Today, only the 35-meter-high west façade and side walls remain. The convent was built by wealthy merchants from Tallinn. The building was once the largest in former Livonia. It was built in 1407 on the banks of the River Pirita. The church remained in use until its destruction at the end of the 16th century. In the 17th century, the land in front of the cathedral ruins became a cemetery for peasants.
