This fortress overlooking the Tchepelarska valley is the town's main attraction.
The Assenovgrad fortress (11th century), with its impressive silhouette perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Chepelarska valley, is the town's major attraction. Climbing up to it offers breathtaking views and a close-up view of this iconic structure, which seems to have melted into the rock. As you leave the town in the direction of Batchkovo, a road climbs to the right; you can park in front of the fortress. A cab will easily take you there.
