The Ouargla tramway, which came into service in March 2018, is the first tramway in the desert. It has been designed to withstand extreme weather conditions. The line connects Sid Rouhou and Chenine Kadour terminuses via the new city and bus station, making the tramway a central transport line in the city. It has a total of 16 stations and extends over 9.6 km.
