The dark, jagged Tassili of In Salah is distinguished by its sandy dunes and numerous springs.
South of In Salah, the Immidir is a tassili (sandstone plateau) bordered by the Tefedest mountain range to the south and Adrar n'Ahnet to the west, included in the Hoggar. Dark and jagged, sometimes softened by tongues of sandy dunes, the massif is cooled by numerous springs which express themselves at the bottom of the canyons. The Immidir is quite difficult to cross and still little known, despite landscapes of extreme beauty and archaeological riches, such as rock paintings or pre-Islamic monuments
