In the north-west of Constantine, Mila and his old casbah are still residences from the wall built in the th century BC under the reign of the Byzantine emperor Justinian. This former colony of the Cirtéenne federation is now known for its dam of Beni Haroun, the largest infrastructure of its kind in the country. Its waters feed much of the region of Algeria. It is also known for its thermal waters and, more prosaically, for the quality of des to lamb meat cooked on fire, the famous choua choua.
