KHROUB (SOUMAA) TOWER

During excavations carried out in 1915 under the ruins of the tower, a sort of truncated pyramid bristling with column bases, built at the highest point of the plateau, what appears to be a royal burial site dating from the first century BC was brought to light. - Could the mausoleum Es-Souna be that of Massinissa? The excavated remains were transferred to the museum of Cirta. Among these: a cotte or tunic, two broken urns, the remains of a helmet, a sword and its cedar wood sheath, a dagger, a medallion with the god Neptune represented.
