These truncated pyramid-shaped djeddars in Tiaret belong to Christian Berber mausoleums from the Byzantine period.
The thirteen Djeddars, Berber mausoleums from the Byzantine era, therefore Christian, built on the Djebels Laghdar and Araoui.in the shape of truncated pyramids, they were built with cut stones on square bases. In Ternaten, the Keskes, so called because of its shape reminiscent of the dish used to cook couscous, is the largest of these tombs. The Keskes, 48 x 45 m, is hollowed out by galleries and about twenty rooms, two of which are recognized as burial chambers because of the traces of paint that remain.
