Château d'Effiat with terrace, central staircase, formal gardens and labyrinth, hosting exhibitions and events.

The château is part of a major project by Antoine Coiffier Ruzé d'Effiat, a friend of Richelieu and advisor to King Louis XIII. It is surrounded by 120 hectares of formal gardens and a plant maze. Access is via a wide Volvic stone gate and an avenue of lime trees leading to the courtyard. The building features a terrace, two central staircases overlooking the Chaîne des Puys, and two water features with fountains. The château hosts numerous exhibitions. The château is also available for hire for all kinds of events.

Opening time and information on EFFIAT CASTLE

Open for tours from April to October. Low season: open Thursday to Sunday, 3pm to 7pm. High season: Tuesday to Sunday, 2:30pm to 7pm. High season: 3 tours at 2.30pm, 4pm and 5.30pm. Low season: 2 visits at 3pm and 5:30pm. For groups, year-round by reservation. Free for children under 12. Adults: €11. Children (aged 12 to 18): €9. Groups, open all year round, by appointment: fixed price of €160 for up to 20 people and €8 for each additional person. Guided tour. Catering. Entertainment. Groups by appointment. Room rental.

Originality

Ancienne école militaire, le château en a gardé son église royale. Elle a été notamment l'école de Général Desaix qui a suivi Napoléon Bonaparte dans les guerres révolutionnaires jusqu'en Egypte. Le château est à visiter car son histoire fait partie intégrante de la grande histoire.

A beautiful castle! The lord of the manor will not hesitate to take time you can tell the castle's history! The park is worth a visit, it is magnificent!
