Located in the village of Fuao in Nangan, legend has it that during the Ming Dynasty, a villager dreamt that the fire god came to show him the location of an incense burner. The next morning he followed the instructions, and found the object at the said site, where this temple, dedicated to the god of fire, was then built. It is a Taoist place of worship, which is not very common in Taiwan: the proximity of the coasts may explain this.
