ZHENWEI RESIDENCE

North of Kincheng, across Lake Tzu, the Chenwei residence was the home of the commander of the Li Kuang-Hsien fleet under the Qing Dynasty two centuries ago. Built at the time, the house is a good example of the notables' residences of that time. It is also possible to notice just behind the house three standing stones covered with Chinese characters: they are shih gan dang, monoliths whose purpose is to repel evil forces and protect the inhabitants of the house from the evil eye.
