Erected in 1726, it is one of the oldest temples in Taiwan, and has been rebuilt eight times, but the last actual renovation dates from 1830. It is therefore one of the few religious places in Taiwan that has not been altered in the 20th century. Dedicated to Confucius, it features classical architectural elements of the Qing Dynasty, with several buildings on the wings that housed the Changua School. It is located halfway between the train station and Baguashan.
