The "Double Ten" commemorates the founding of the Republic of China. October 10, 1911 (10/10) marks the fall of the Ching dynasty of the Manchus, which gives way to a Republic founded by Sun Yat-sen. Since then, October 10 has been a national holiday in China and Taiwan. In front of the presidential building in Taipei, there is a large military parade that is held in parallel with events during which traditional dances such as the dragon dance, martial arts performances and fireworks take place
