Built in 1904 by a Japanese architect, this teahouse and playhouse, whose red brick facade is one of the neighbourhood's sights (as well as a convenient landmark), is the oldest in Taiwan. Deserted in the 1970s, it did not reopen these doors until 2002. On the first floor, the theatre (red, hence the name of the establishment) now hosts receptions. On the ground floor there is an interesting shop that takes you back in time and a tea room with a nice selection of Taiwanese oolongs.
