Discovery tour by boat in the Chiang Rai region, in contact with the local ethnic groups living in the mountains.

You can go up this river from Chiang Rai, towards Thaton. A beautiful trip in perspective, probably less exciting than a rafting trip but more comfortable. It is recommended to stop at the Guesthouse My Dream for lunch or even for the night. The owner, a licensed guide of Karen origin, can organize a discovery tour in the surrounding area, in contact with the local ethnic groups, whose different languages he speaks. The "agency rate" can be advantageous and allows you to benefit from the services of a competent guide.

Région de la rivière MAE NAM KOK
Belle région. La descente de la rivière est intéressante mais un peu rapide . La visite des ethnies locale fait un peu voyeurisme et m'a mis mal à l'aise

J'ai effectué "la descente" depuis Thaton qui d'après plusieurs lectures est la plus agréable (5h pour remonter depuis CR) avec des vues sur des scènes de vies bien agréables...Arrêt dans une petite gargote tenue par "des Karens" bien sympathiques.
Vraiment agréable balade depuis Thaton jusqu'a Chiang Rai....
