A temple in Ayutthaya, where royal cremations took place, housing a magnificent bronze statue of Buddha.
Phra Mane Square was the site of royal cremations, just like Sanam Luang in Bangkok. At the center of the square is a magnificent bronze statue of Buddha, now covered in gold leaf. Since the 15th century, the statue had been exposed to the elements. It was only in 1956 that a new temple was built to protect it. On the way to the temple, you'll find numerous stores selling souvenirs and amulets, as well as small food stalls. A large garden provides shady spots to take a break.
