A restaurant as unusual as it is beneficial, on the theme of contraception. With artworks, activities of all kinds, condom distribution, proceeds donated to sex education programs, and an on-site family planning clinic, the idea behind this restaurant is to educate people about sexual health, which is sorely lacking in a country where many teenage mothers live. It's an original visit, as well as being of definite tourist interest, as the cuisine is local, and traditional shows are often organized at weekends.

Close to the Democracy Monument, this establishment is a sure bet for lunch or dinner in the city's historic center. On the menu: classic Thai dishes that you'd find just about anywhere... except that here, the ingredients are of the highest quality, the recipes expertly crafted and the dishes delicately presented. A real treat! The menu is so extensive that it's hard to choose. The chic setting is a little old-fashioned, but the service is impeccable. In the evening, a singer comes to liven up your meal. Recommended.

Clara celebrates modern Italian cuisine. 10 years after giving birth to the sensational Italian restaurant Sensi, Chef Christian Martena and Maitre d' Clara Del Corso-Martena have poured their hearts into this culinary adventure. From his open kitchen, the Chef will take you on a gustatory journey to different regions of the Botte. Chef Martena blends local recipes with creative techniques, using high-quality local produce and carefully selected European ingredients.

Elegant establishment located at the end of an alleyway between Wat Pho and Wat Arun. The decor is a pleasant blend of traditional and industrial influences. The dining room is warm and inviting, with lots of wood panelling and furniture. The cuisine is simple but tasty, with traditional dishes that work well. It's a little pricey, but you're also paying for the location and the view of Wat Arun (although work was underway, blocking the view when we visited in June 2023). An original place to try.

Here's a little boui-boui as we like them, located in an old house on stilts along the Chao Phraya River, at the Tha Tian pier where you take the ferry to Wat Arun. You'll be transported back to the days of old Bangkok. It's frequented by locals who come for the simple, cheap and good food, but also for its terrace overlooking the Temple of Dawn, to be enjoyed with a cold beer in hand.

Close to Khao San Road and Phra Sumen fort, this café-restaurant is located on the banks of the Chao Phraya, as its name indicates, and benefits from a superb view on the Rama VIII bridge. Nice terrace and air-conditioned room if the heat bothers you. The menu offers good Thai specialties, including dishes with seafood and sea products, but also Western recipes, such as pizzas, burgers, grilled meat... One can also come there to have just a hot drink, a snack or a glass.

A small and unpretentious place like many in Bangkok, with braised chickens and ducks displayed in front of it to attract customers. If you want to eat Thai style, this one is really good and cheap. The specialty of the house is the noodle soup with fish balls, but we advise you to try the rice dishes with duck or pork, to be decorated with hot sauce and condiments present on the tables.

Located at the beginning of Rambuttri Alley, this small street food restaurant is probably the best place in the neighborhood. A few plastic tables are set up on the street, and you'll probably have to wait to get a seat as the place is a legitimate success. The menu offers a wide range of local specialties, from pad krapao to Chiang Mai khao soi to southern panaeng curry. It's very good, quite copious and all at very competitive prices, including beer.
