Petit Futé's opinion on BARGOIN MUSEUM

Vintage plate 2020

Inaugurated in 1903, this museum came into being thanks to the 200,000 francs that Jean-Baptiste Bargoin bequeathed to the city of Clermont-Ferrand for this purpose. It houses two departments: one devoted to archaeology and the other to textiles. The first houses a very fine collection of objects dating from prehistoric times to the Gallo-Roman period from the archaeological excavations carried out in the region. The collection includes figurines, jewellery, coins and everyday objects. The textile department is particularly exotic. Its temporary exhibitions showcase astonishing non-European fabrics. Each of these exhibitions opens with it a panel of appointments: guided tours, game tours for children, conferences, workshops and lunch breaks, concerts... The documentation centre is free of charge. For further information, please contact the reception or by telephone.

MuséoJeux: Come and play with your family at the museum! The Bargoin Museum and the Roger-Quilliot Art Museum offer the MuséoJeux bag filled with fun accessories for children. From the Muséorouleau to better observe the works to the MuséoBandeau to better imagine them, there are a total of 12 games on hand to travel through the collections.
