Petit Futé's opinion on BARGOIN MUSEUM

Vintage plate 2020

This museum was created in 1903 thanks to the legacy of Jean-Baptiste Bargoin to the city of Clermont. It is divided into two areas: one is devoted to archaeology, with a collection of prehistoric and Gallo-Roman objects from the region, and the other part focuses on textiles from around the world in the form of temporary exhibitions. Each of these exhibitions is enriched by guided tours, game trails for children (including the MuseoGames bag), conferences, workshops, lunch breaks, concerts... The documentation centre is free to access.

Owner's Message BARGOIN MUSEUM

The Textile Arts Department brings together pieces from the Near and Middle East, Central and Eastern Asia, and America: clothing, carpets, and furniture or religious objects. In order to respect their fragility, they cannot be displayed on a permanent basis, which makes it possible to hold regular exhibitions on varied and attractive themes.
