The village of El Soberbio, with some 5,065 inhabitants, was founded after the Second World War by German, Italian and Portuguese settlers on the banks of the Uruguay River. Essences such as lemon or lemongrass are still distilled there today. It is the most suitable anchorage point for visiting the surrounding area: a few hotels, campsites and restaurants are at your disposal. The best is to use the services of a local agency that will take you by boat to the falls (count 8 hours round trip). Or if you are motorized, drive to Brazil and the town of Porto Soberbio, from where a dirt road leads to the falls. The ferry service operates only from 8am to 11.15am and from 2pm to 5.15pm.
