SANDAGIRI MONASTIC COMPLEX

This Buddhist monastic complex dates from the 3rd century. The foundations have only recently been discovered and the complex is still being restored. It is composed of 5 structures: the Sandagiri Stupa which also allows to admire some vestiges exposed around it; the Bodhigharaya surrounded by an ancient foundation; the Janthagara, a herbalist's shop for the monks; the "Image House" where there is a pretty sculpture of Buddha; the Uposathaghara, not restored yet.
