This Buddhist temple is located on a small island, Golden Island, facing Matara beach. It is linked to the mainland by a pedestrian steel suspension bridge, which is in rather poor condition. Wooden planks have been added here and there to strengthen it. Renovation and extension work in 2022 will give the temple a more welcoming appearance. At the entrance, someone will try to extort a donation of Rs. 500 or more from you. Please note that this is a "donation" to the temple (in theory...) and is absolutely unnecessary...
