On the hiking trail leading to îlet Alcide, discover one of Réunion's oldest trees: the Roi des Tamarins. With a trunk measuring 9 m and branches reaching 19 m in height, it dominates the surrounding forest. Over 400 years old, it has a circumference of 3.89 m. Despite the cyclones and storms that have shattered part of its branches, it remains majestic. If it could, it would even tell us about its encounter with the island's first inhabitants. As you continue your hike, you'll come to a viewpoint overlooking the Maïdo.
