Things to see and do Velenje

The emergence of Velenje as a town in its own right is largely due to the presence of coal mines on its soil. You will descend 180 m underground to discover the life of the miner by taking the more than a century old cage. Be reassured! A beautiful adventure towards these numerous staged scenes. Velenje Castle (Wöllan) was built in the 13th century. The interior of a 1930s inn has also been reconstructed with period furniture. The museum presents an ethnological collection of Southern Africa as well as batiks. Impressionist painting, collection of baroque religious art before ending the visit with a prehistoric elephant discovered in the neighbourhood of Velenje in 1964. The bones are in the display cases. An exhibition is also devoted to the Šaleška Valley during World War II.
