MOUNT SHILIN BOGD

Shilin Bogd Mountain is one of the many extinct volcanoes that dot the region. It is located at 1,778 meters above sea level, and its crater is nearly 2 km in diameter and 200 meters deep. Pointing into a relatively flat landscape, the volcano can be seen from nearly 60 km away. Like many mountains in Mongolia, this one is sacred. It takes between 30 and 40 minutes to reach the crater by walking. A path goes around it: respect the tradition and go clockwise!
