This sum (or department) is undoubtedly the most interesting of theaimag, notably for its natural sites including hundreds of volcanoes, sand dunes and lakes, but also for the presence of an important Dariganga minority. The latter, still largely nomadic, is distributed mainly around Lake Ganga and the extinct volcano Dari Ovoo. The latter culminates at 1 354 meters of altitude and is moreover venerated by the Dariganga and considered as sacred. The ovoo located at its summit is therefore forbidden to women. The access to this zone located at the south of theaimag, near the Chinese border, is a little difficult. The best solution is to rent a jeep, and it is also necessary to be in possession of a permit issued by the border office, which can be obtained in Baruun Urt.
