On arrival on the outskirts of Yefren, the landscape covers fields of olive trees, but also orchards. The surrounding areas of Yefren have very interesting sites, while the street of the city centre with its alignment of small clothing shops or other is attractive. Yefren also has a very good hotel. There are many reasons for a pleasant stay. Yefren la Berbère has approximately 30 to 35 000 inhabitants. In the 1970 s, the inhabitants gradually left the ancient villages surrounding them to live in the new town, whose population was further expanded in the 1980 s by the implantation of Bedouin. Yefren was formerly called Qasr el-Jebel (the fort of the mountain) and was in the centre of the Berber mountains of Jebel Gharbi (western). In the mid th century, the Turks made Yefren the head of the region of the Jebel of the West, which was divided into three subdivisions: Yefren, Fassato and Nalout. The place was depopulated where they formed their fort in 1842 and attracted some Berbers and Jews from neighbouring villages, which built shops and houses at the foot of the fort.
