The traveller who arrives, exhausted, to Cachuela Esperanza, will be rewarded by one of the most surreal sites of Bolivia, just opposite Brazil. This village is a real jewel of architecture from the end of the 19th century. Like other places in Latin America whose prosperity was based on a cash economy (rubber in this case, as in all of Amazonia), Cachuela has not kept much of its past splendor.
