Sub-tributary of the Amazon that flows into the Rio Negro, serving as the natural border between Venezuela and Brazil
The Río Branco, which forms a little upstream from the town of Boa Vista, along which it flows, irrigates the state of Roraima from north to south, where it flows into the Río Negro. It is therefore a sub-tributary of the Amazon. On either side of the Rio Branco, a series of mountain ranges (peaking at 3,000 m at Pico da Neblina) forms the natural border between Venezuela and Brazil, separating the Amazon and Orinoco basins, and whose forests constitute the last unexplored portion of the South American continent.
