BOSQUE DA CIÊNCIA
National Institute for Amazonian Research reserved for scientists, with 3 basins containing several specimens of peixe-boi
While the National Institute of Amazonian Research (INPA) is reserved for scientists, it stands alongside a wonderful park, the Bosque da Ciência, developed for the educational needs of Brazilian schoolchildren eager to establish contact with the rainforest. Three pools house several specimens of peixe-boi (manatees), which move to the rhythm of their breathing. Otters and macaques evolve under the watchful eye of free-ranging macaws. The park is a jewel case of the Amazon jungle, preserved in the midst of the urban landscape. Visitors are guided by a student.
