ESTAÇÃO DAS DOCAS
The Belem docklands area, which has retained its paved quay with rail tracks and has been converted into a leisure and shopping area
The docks played an active role in the development of Belém before their decline. To revitalize this ageing and poorly frequented part of the city, the municipality has successfully reconverted an area of the docks into a leisure and commercial space. With its lively weekend scene, the area boasts a wide range of stores, restaurants and bars. The area has retained its cobbled quayside, criss-crossed by rails, and some of its old yellow cranes, giving the place a nostalgic charm with an unobstructed view of the river.
