PARQUE DA RESIDÊNCIA

The Parque da Residência, now the headquarters of the Secretariat of Culture, was once the residence of the governors of Pará, hence its name. The gardens have been redeveloped into a park that is not very large, but provides a pleasant setting for a walk in the open air. There's a small orchidarium on site, and good local cuisine at the Restô do Parque. You can see the carriage of the old Belém-Bragança railroad line, which governors used to travel to the interior of the vast Amazonian state of Pará.
