CASA DAS ELEVEN JANELAS
Eleven-window house with gourmet restaurant, now hosting a contemporary art exhibition
Built in the 18th century as the residence of Domingos da Costa Bachelor, a wealthy man of culture, the "house of eleven windows" was acquired by the government in 1768 for use as a hospital. Today, it houses an exhibition of contemporary art. Permanent exhibitions are held in the Ruy Meira room. The view of the river is superb. A gourmet restaurant (Casa de Saulo) run by Paulista chef Saulo Jennings adds a little more magic to the place, combining culture, nature and culinary expertise.
